I’ve been learning Chinese with Yujie for the past two years, and I can highly recommend her. She is very friendly, patient, and genuinely enjoys teaching. Yujie is very good at facilitating interesting conversations. Even when my Chinese was quite limited she gave me the confidence to have lessons fully in Chinese. We never run out of topics and she has a great sense of humor that comes to life in her storytelling. She's easy-going and patient while always challenging me to improve. When something I say is unnatural or wrong, rather than correcting me directly, she lets me think it through and asks questions until I understand it. After our classes I'm often surprised by how far the topics we discussed went beyond what I'd consider my level. Her summaries capture the key vocabulary and phrases of each lesson, so I can just focus on our conversation without worrying about missing anything, knowing she keeps track of everything for me to review later.

I've been studying Mandarin with Yujie for several years, and during that time my speaking proficiency has improved dramatically. Every lesson she takes note of words and phrases we learned and provides me with helpful study materials tailored to my needs. She has also been flexible in adapting the curriculum to my interests--for example, I mentioned I was interested in Chinese history, so she prepared some lesson materials related to historical figures, including short readings and discussion topics. Overall she has been a diligent and helpful teacher, and I know if I keep studying with her my level will continue to improve.
Yujie Laoshi is an encouraging, and really supportive teacher who has played a wonderful role in my progress in speaking Chinese.
